사라의 짐(The Burden of Sara) 그리고 개인전 2014.08.14 open! 봄로야는 2005년부터 홍대를 기반으로 각종 전시 참여 및 공연, 전시 기획을 해왔으며 2008년부터 영역을 넓혀 소설과 음반 <선인장 크래커>, 독서 에세이 <0페이지 책> 등을 출간, 차세대 일러스트레이터이자 아티스트로 자리매김 하였다. 이번 <사라의 짐> 음반 & 드로잉북을 통해 본격적으로 음악 활동을 통해 봄로야 특유의 감성을 펼칠 예정이다. 구석구석 숨어 있는 멜랑콜리한 일상의 소리. 이어폰으로 깊숙이 들어보세요. <사라의 짐>에 수록된 음악의 프로듀서는 2003년부터 활동중인 속옷밴드(우리는 속옷도 생겼고 여자도 늘었다네)의 기타리스트이기도 한 ninaian이 맡았다. 작가는 기억을 일종의 짐으로 표상하여 지금, 여기의 일상과 사물, 과거, 미래의 주변을 살핀다. 8곡의 노래들은 한결같이 밤, 잠, 꿈과 같은 몽환적인 키워드를 내포하여 각각의 기억과 만질 수 없는 실재의 부재에 관한 고독감을 표현한다. 작가가 직접 작곡한 멜로디와 가사들은 그의 독특하고 섬세한 감성과 만나 더욱 그 빛을 발한다. 글 쓰는 소리, 걷는 소리, 바람 소리 등 일상에서 채취한 사운드와 몽환적인 전자음, 투박한 피아노 소리들이 어두운 기억 저편을 예민하게 더듬어 나간다. <사라의 짐은>은 하루를 마감하며 떠올리는 나의 지나간 시간들, 안녕하신가요? <사라의 짐>은 단어 ‘사라짐’을 언어유희로 풀어 낸 주인공 사라가 갖고 있는 짐 갖은 ‘기억’을 의미한다. 그림, 글, 노래로 꾸며진 드로잉북 형태의 이번 음반은 사라가 과거의 기억에 동반되는 외로움을 실재적인 덩어리로 보이게 되며, 이 덩어리들로 짐을 꾸려 여행을 떠난다는 짧은 스토리를 주축으로 8곡의 노래와 50 여 점의 그림, 단상 그리고 실재 타인의 짐 같은 기억을 수집하여 드로잉 한 그림들로 구성되어 있다. 영원히 사라지지 않는 기억, 오늘만큼은 홀가분해지기 위한 노력. 사운드가 가진 심상이 수면 위로 떠오르지 못한 먹먹한 기억들의 느낌을 이야기 한다면, 이미지와 텍스트는 주인공 사라의 이야기, 기억의 성질과 모양, 타인의 기억을 수집하는 등의 과정을 통해 사라진 기억의 심상들을 수면 위로 달달하고 애틋하게 끌어 올린다. |
